Dental Mission Trip to Guatemala
As we traveled up into the beautiful mountains of Guatemala I reflected on all that we have been given. The people who had waited for hours in the sun were so grateful to see us. It is humbling to see what little they have, yet how grateful they are.
Our days were long and the nights were short. Most of my time was spent setting up and training others to apply fluoride varnish. After the volunteers were off and running, I helped out the dental team by triaging and anesthetizing patients.
This was the first trip to Guatemala for each of the three dentists I worked with. There were two other dental hygienists who had been there before and this made for a very efficient team.
I spent a day at the hospital with an amazing plastic surgery team that has been traveling to Guatemala with Hearts in Motion for over 20 years. I watched in awe as the surgeons used their God-given skills to change the lives of so many patients.
The Sea Star Foundation is grateful for the willingness of the HIM leadership to partner with us as we serve our Lord. It was amazing to work once again with such a great organization that is truly making a difference in people’s lives.
