I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."Matthew 25:40

(Hearts In Motion & Good Shepherd Lutheran Church)
The Sea Star Foundation was asked to go along with the Mission Trip put on by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Naperville, IL from June 13th- June 20th, 2015. We were able to travel to many different areas outside of Zacapa, Guatemala, and provide many children with fluoride varnish treatments. After collecting caries risk assessment data, we are seeing a large reduction of caries in these areas, largely attributed to the continued fluoride applications and clean water filtration systems being donated! We look forward to being able to continue keeping this going in Zacapa!
Caries Risk Assessments are a critical part of our mission trips.
Applying the fluoride varnishes.
Children travel from far distances to come and receive the fluoride treatments, along with toothbrushes and toothpaste.
Park Dental was a great support in providing necessary supplies for mission trips like this.
We were able to reach close to 600 children on this mission trip.
So many beautiful smiles in Guatemala!

It is important to have the children demonstrate back that they can brush the teeth.
More supplies will be needed to complete the set up of the dental clinic in Teculután.

My beautiful friend, “Dulce”, which ironically enough means “sweets” in Spanish!
Fluoride application in the works!
All geared up to look in those mouths!
More supplies will be needed for the dental clinic to get it up and running.

Loving brushing Freddie’s Teeth!
“Escupes aquí!” Telling the children to spit in the garbage after the fluoride applications.
It is amazing, going into homes in the area and seeing that our hard work is a success when families actually have designated spaces for housing their dental supplies!
Discussing “Baby Bottle Decay” with parents is very important.
A working ultrasonic and developer have been donated to the clinic!
